sylvie’s swag.

there are some great, all organic clearance items over at happy green bee right now. i scored some great, inexpensive clothing items for sylvie.

petal dress: $8, originally $36.

cardigan: $7, originally $28

leggings: $6, originally $12

stripy leggings: $5, originally $18

grand total: $26 of organic baby goodness! a big THANK YOU goes out to melissa for alerting readers about this sale.

score!

travis and i are trying to do as many spontaneous activities as we can before sylvie’s arrival. yesterday we had planned to take a field trip to the indy zoo. mother nature, however, had other plans. we woke up to a cloudy, gray day, with a large cell of thunderstorms coming our way. instead of traipsing around the zoo in the pouring rain (and boy girl, did it pour!), we instead opted to check out a large outlet mall about an hour west of us. we looked online and saw that these outlets had numerous baby stores and a maternity store. rock.

the maternity outlet had some nice things at even better prices, but i find it hard to justify spending more money on preggo clothes with only 7 weeks to go. if i buy something for myself, i make sure it works for post-pregnancy, too. oh, and costing less than $10 is always a plus. i could insert a rather lengthy love letter to target here, but that’s for another post.

we browsed through all the usual baby store culprits (children’s place, hartstrings, carters, etc), but found the BEST DEALS at oshkosh (ohmygosh) b’gosh. and, yes, i did have to get up and look at a tag for the spelling. we only bought one thing, as travis and i both have an anti-spending-money complex these days. we just couldn’t pass up this adorable little pair of jeans:

flowers, ruffles, and girly without being fussy? PERFECT. plus, they were on BIG discount. how BIG was it, you say? check out that tag:

BOOM-SHAKA-LAKA.

look what we got!

yesterday, before i went into work, we perused the baby section of our local target.  this is what we left with:

i think this is a great contender for her coming home from the hospital outfit!  i’m kind of a sucker for giraffes and polka dots, and you rarely see those two together in the wild.  plus, it will look great with the hat grammy and poppy got for her.

i now have less than three months to wait until i meet my baby.  life is good.

sylvie’s swag.

our little sylvie is already getting spoiled by her grandparents!  in addition to the beautiful crib her grammy and poppy bought for her and her changing table from nana and pop-pop, she also received some adorable things to cuddle and wear.  these first few gifts were given to us right after the doctor’s appointment.

a sweet purple hippo from her grammy and poppy:

sweet little shoes from her nana and pop-pop:

my mom also brought a pair of boy’s shoes just in case.  haha.  she returned them to target later that day.  we picked out the rest of these items over the course of the weekend:

you may be able to tell we have a thing for pandas…

i’m pretty much in love with this cardigan and its matching sunglasses:

any daughter of mine needs a good pair of moccasins!  i probably have 5 pairs of my own.  i’m not even joking.

i love the above onesies!  they will perfectly match the giraffe hat her grammy and poppy got her:

baby hats with animal ears make me melt.

we snagged this sweet little flower sweatshirt on sale!  by the time winter rolls around, sylvie will be big enough to wear it!

of course, every little girl needs an obnoxiously big daisy headband to top it all off!

this is just a little tour of sylvie’s future style!  this kid already needs her own style blog.  yeesh!

**EDIT**  i can’t believe i forgot to post a picture of this onesie!  it’s amazing!

maternity garb.

finding affordable, stylish maternity clothes is just as difficult as i thought it would be.  i finally managed to find a pair of cute, inexpensive, black maternity skinny jeans:

$28.99 from kiki’s fashions.  black is the only color of denim i’m allowed to wear to work, so finding a pair was a top priority on my clothing list.  now i can stop wearing the one increasingly uncomfortable pair that still sort of fit me. huzzah!

i’ve been looking to a lot of non-maternity places for items that might work.  forever 21 has a lot of cute tops with bump-friendly cuts, for a fraction of the price of most maternity stores:

$17.80

$29.80

$24.80

$11.50, available in 4 colors

another awesome maternity site is yesstyle.com.  you have to weed through a fair amount of items that are $100+, but there are some pretty good deals to be found.

if i could afford  topshop maternity i would probably buy everything they offer.  i particularly LOVE this adorable flowered cardigan (US size 6 if anybody wants to make my year):

$50.00

on the other hand, it is extremely easy to find affordable, adorable baby clothes.  seriously, i want to have a little girl just for this amazing ensemble:

$36.95 for the set, available from punkbabyclothes.net.  the cupcake?  the tutu?  UH-MAZING.
